Some relief for the ten former mailroom employees of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) who lost out on their jobs due to outsourcing would be receiving compensation worth $4,000 in back pay as a part of the legal settlement.

This has settled a dispute over the interpretation of an appropriations bill which stopped the IRS from turning federal work over to a contractor during 2004 without undertaking a public private competition.

Federal judge stated in March that IRS which did not have a competition for mailroom jobs had without proper authorities converted the jobs in the time period that Congress had put off the limits. On the other hand after the court ruling, IRS commented that it had complied with procurement rules and regulations.
