Watch out for your son or daughter working in a call center. They might be indulging in risky sexual behavior. Fearing this some call center companies in India are implementing HIV/AIDS programs for their employees who with their newly discovered social freedom are at a risk of contracting the virus. These agents are now entering the new risk group for HIV/AIDS along with migrant workers, commercial sex workers and truck drivers as most of them are single, mobile and live away from their restrictive families.
As per a survey conducted by makers of Durex condoms 11% of the total strength of 1,100 workers at iEnergizer reported that they had more than five sexual partners and in another nationwide survey conducted by the company 7% of the 1,300 adults reported that they had more than five sexual partners.
With AIDS increasing at an alarming rate in India it is important that the educated masses be educated about this disease so that it cannot make much headway. I hope the young blood at the call centers would learn from this.
