As per the ministry of communication, India is expected to garner around fifteen percent of the $54 billion KPO industry world over by 2010 from current figure of five percent. In order to achieve this, the Department of Information Technology has started a special manpower development programme.
India being blessed with low cost labor and skilled manpower can emerge as a frontrunner in the KPO industry worldwide. The development of KPO industry in India would help companies to maximize their savings worldwide through offshore operations.
In order to achieve this, the Indian government and BPO industry should work in collaboration to increase India’s share in the global outsourcing market and appropriate changes should be brought in the education system in order to improve the quality of workforce. With the Indian outsourcing industry facing shortage of skilled manpower, the education system should be set right so that people could be trained with the right skills.
