If Vodafone decides to stick to its decision of outsourcing of application development and maintenance services, around hundred and twenty IT workers could lose their job. Employees from its Irish facility would suffer if the decision goes through and around a hundred back office IT contractors and twenty permanent members of the staff could lose their job.
It was in the month of October that Vodafone had announced its outsourcing deal with IBM and EDS and it is being speculated that these employees might not even get a transfer deal.
The company is expected to save around 25 to 30% due to outsourcing but what about the employees? They should be given a fair deal by the company otherwise outsourcing would certainly get a bad name.
