Meijer is outsourcing 81 information and technology contract positions to India this July. Indian Software and outsourcing service company Infosys will most likely will be awarded with the contract. The company however affirms that employees will be absorbed in other in- house retail network or will offer severance packages in case they want to partway.
The spokesperson says Infosys will develop custom technology including inventory and data management needed by the retail store and the company.
While consumers still can call any of Meijer’s 171 stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky markets, visitors using phone numbers listed on Meijer’s Web site will be routed to the home-based workers to get information about services, promotions, contests and prices.
