You thought that Bangalore was the hottest destination for a BPO job, then my friend you are extremely wrong. The future for BPO jobs now is Neyvelied, Mettupalayamed or probably any other village in India. The TeNet group of IIT Madras has taken the initiative to bring BPOs to India. This group has gone ahead and converted twenty rural internet kiosks into BPOs and the income of around Rs80, 000 was generated for the rural population. The services which are offered are engineering, administrative and localization. The group has received encouraging results and it is fast expanding its operations.
How this works. The project office of IIT Madras would be acting as the front end of operations and interface point between BPOs and the world. The company would be procuring the orders and passing it to Chirag internet cafes established by n-Logue Communications. Depending on the requirement, the cafe owner would be recruiting additional people or involve his family in the project. The good thing is that as compared to the city there would not be problems of attrition as the work would be completed by the educated rural youth or housewives.
