Senate Democrats are going to introduce a legislation this week in a move to lend a hand to workers whose jobs were vanished due to outsourcing. Students whose parents have lost jobs to outsourcing can enroll themselves for emergency college tuition. Low income workers would be given first preferences into community college program so that they can learn industry specific high end technical and other skills.
The package is supposed to include bills that would put into place a detailed program that create plans exclusively for laid-off workers so that they can get jobs in higher-demand verticals. There are also plans to extend the maximum amount of time unemployment should get as benefit from existing 26 week plans to 39 weeks.
Republicans have asked the probable cost of some of the planned measures.
