New dimensions can now be seen in the BPO sector in Philippines. An executive of a BPO is taking its operations to the provinces. This is a step to sustain the increasing manpower needs. The president of PeopleSupport Philippine as well as the vice president for Global Operations Bong Borja acknowledged that there is rapid growth in the industry.

The BPO sector is 5 years old in Philippines. The sector has already 179000 call center agents and a total of 20000 employees in the entire sector. The BPO sector includes services like engineering design, software development, animation, legal transcription, medical transcription, back office, and the but obvious call center. It is expected that by 2010 the sector will provide employment to some half a million people. PeopleSupport Inc. has setup a permanent office in the Davao City. The purpose is to study the flow of applicants. Another reason is the abundance of good schools in Davao as well as the neighboring provinces where there is a lot of potential.
