Telecom operators should seriously and strategically plan and review their outsourcing strategies or may run the risk of being out-paced by competitors. Simon Sherrington who authored the reports said, “Outsourcing has become an important weapon in a telecoms operator’s strategic arsenal...An effective and well-managed outsourcing scheme can deliver flexibility, reduce time to market for new services, and help to deliver profit growth for shareholders.”



The report further envisages that a telecom operator’s market positioning, its strategy, domain expertise, core efficiency should be considered before making the outsourcing deal.




The Western European market for outsourcing technology and customer services by telecoms operators is expected to show 6% annual growth between 2005 and 2010, rising from EUR5.9 billion to EUR8.0 billion. Outsourcing of end-to-end network operation and management will be one of the fastest-growing segments, showing a CAGR of 14. Outsourcing of IT services, billing, OSS and content/application platform management are also expected to show robust growth.
